Van Life Croyde Bay, North Devon.

A popular family beach during peak holiday season, however slightly quieter the rest of the year and just as much fun. Mini beach river, rock pools to hunt for wildlife, huge soft sand dunes for tumbling down and ice creams on demand.

Popular with experienced surfers and learners as the surf school is in the car park. At peak season the surf can get dangerously busy as it is known as the best beach break in the UK. Providing first class barrels at low tide and just keeps giving all day long, watch out for the rip when big! Life guard on duty May to September (plus Easter and October weekends).

The Downend Car Park is a very reasonable and friendly pay and display private car park (all day car parking is £2.00 off season). Overnight parking is also available between 6pm and 8am. Large grassy car park with unmarked spaces, toilet block, beach shower, cafe shack and surf hire. Sweeping views of Croyde bay, well worth parking up and enjoying a sundowner with a cheeky beer after a day out in the sea.

Saturday night is Sir Lanken night, the food waggon arrives and cooks fresh homemade curries, dhal and sides that are destined for your belly! The wafting smell of spices to the van is hard to resist, perfect end to a day on the coast. Check the chalkboard in the car park for up to date times/days of when the different food waggons arrive as there is a Mexican food night on offer also.

This has to be our favourite spot to chill in the Summer, the small people run around on the grass blowing bubbles, whilst we soak up the sun and the surfer vibe that floats around the whole place.

The Billy Budds Pub has a laid back atmosphere and free WiFi for catching up on any admin, if you feel like treating yourself to a pint out and about and it is only a 15 min walk down towards the village from Downend car park (very limited on road parking out front).
